It’s been quite a few weeks since my previous update and it’s certainly been a busy time. I returned to Falls Creek in January for another three week stint of altitude training but this time I was joined by my whole training group. Thereare around 20 of us ‘Wollongong Wizards’ now encompassing many nationalities. I enjoyed being back training with the group and it made it quite different to my time up there in December.

Australia Day Aquathon

I was really happy with how the block of training went in Falls but I was also super excited to return to Wollongong.
We arrived back in the ‘Gong just before Australia day
, and after a busy few weeks I finally feel like I’m settled in. Intensity and speed have started to creep back into training and it’s a nice feeling to start going fast again! I couldn’t be happier with how training has been going lately and I’m excited to begin the season.

My new Liv Bike!

Of course apart from fantastic training grounds Wollongong also offers a lot of fun social activities that I find important to take my mind away from triathlon. Brendan and I moved closer to town this year and are also just a short stroll from the beach so any free time we have is either spent sipping coffee at a new café or playing in the waves. A few of us were also lucky enough to attend the Oakley Big Wave Awards in Manly a couple of weeks back so I’ve really been trying to practice the skills I picked up there 😉

The next few weeks are where the excitement really starts. I’m heading off to Abu Dhabi next week for the first World Triathlon Series race of the season. I’m very much looking forward to racing and I can’t wait to get over there!

I’ll let you know how it goes. In the meantime, check out this little video Trevor Kemper made of one of our Friday Open Water swims here. I promise the waves are bigger than they look!

Thanks for the support,
